Bio

Beth Rodgers earned her Master’s degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing at the University of West Florida (2012) where she was awarded the 2011 Laurie O’Brien Award for both Graduate Fiction and Graduate Non-Fiction. Her work was selected for publication in 2011 and 2012 by the UWF annual literary journal, The Troubadour, and selections of her poetry, fiction, and non-fiction were published by the Northwest Florida Literary Federation in their 2012 journal, Emerald Coast Review.  In 2014, she published her book, ENC 4 ENC: Electronic Notecards for English Composition, which instructs students in her method of capturing and retaining information as they are learning to write a researched paper. This was a method she invented and refined during her years as a graduate student.

After graduating from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1980 where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (with a minor in Deaf Education),Rodgers spent many years teaching students of various ages and abilities in both public and private schools. In addition to teaching she has been a small business owner, a licensed realtor, a fundraiser for non-profit organizations, and an events director for political campaigns at the state and national level.

Rodgers was born in England and grew up all over the United States as the child of an Air Force pilot. She thus considers nowhere in particular to be her home, though most of her family still reside in Nebraska. Rodgers spent sixteen years in Virginia (1989-2004) before moving to Florida where she has lived since 2004. Rodgers has been married to the same guy since the Jimmy Carter administration; she is the mother of two grown children and the grandmother of a little girl who is arguably the most darling child in the entire world.
